While writing my current series, I've always felt like I need to be in a hurry. So I haven't been taking a break after the first draft before starting the revision process. But I can definitely see where that would be a wise thing to do.
I don't have a comparison really, as I've yet to employ a human editor. But for me the cost and convenience of an $20/month instantly available "editor" is difficult to beat.
That being said, I'm starting to see the fringe limits and the cons to using ChatGPT for this. Things like a lack of market sense, or an incredibly narrow focus or generic suggestions that are essentially by definition cliche. Being the average of everything it's learnt.
It's a mixed bag, but it's right next to me when I need it. I'll use a human at some point but I need to save up first :)
